Wallabies forwards coach Michael Foley said he is confident the wallabies scrum will be able to match it with the best packs at this month's Rugby World Cup in France.
Australia's front row has been much maligned in the press over the past two years, but Foley warned other nations against taking the Wallabies scrum too lightly.
"We have felt we have performed better this domestic Test season than we did last year and we feel we are in a better position to perform as this year's World Cup," Foley said on FoxSports.
"We have built-up our preparation and used hard work not a smoke-and-mirrors trick."
Wallabies flanker Phil Waugh agreed with Foley and said Australia could even be end up as the dominant pack at the World Cup.
"We know we're not the best on this particular date but hopefully in six or seven weeks we will be.
"I think it's certainly possible and we believe that in this tournament we can be the most dominant forward pack."
The Wallabies kick off the Rugby World Cup campaign against Japan on Sunday morning.
