Robber holds up Sydney bank with bomb threat

13/12/2007 12:46:00 PM.  | Laura Tunstall
A man has escaped with more than 100 thousand dollars from a Sydney bank after threatening to blow himself up.

At around 10:15 this morning an Asian man carrying a dark-coloured bag walked into the National Australia Bank on Oxford Street at Paddington.

He handed a note to the teller - saying he had a bomb.

Staff handed the man money, believed to be more than 100 thousand dollars.

There were customers inside the branch at the time, all escaped unharmed.

Police have cordoned off the bank as they investigate the robbery.

The man's been described as being aged in his mid 20s, and was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white shoes and a white baseball cap.
