Troubled Bali talks enter final day after Gore blasts US

14/12/2007 11:08:00 AM.  | Rowan Barker
Former US Vice President Al Gore has denounced his own country as the roadblock to any agreement at the Bali climate change talks.

But Mr Gore says the Bush Administration will be gone in a year and he says Australia shows how a change of government can radically change a country's climate change policies.

Mr Gore has told delegates the Bush Administration must not be allowed to stand in the way of global action on climate change.

“I am going to speak an inconvenient truth, my own country the United States is principally responsible for obstructing progress here in Bali.”

We will end up with a "Sydney Declaration" in Bali. Aspirational targets. So all you Howard knockers, be prepared to apologise. Rudd has achieved stuff all in Bali, except he signed a worthless declaration. Refer to Stavros Dimos from the EU. Shame Labor, shame!

Gazza, I agree Australia received free publicity, but that will be as much as Rudd achieved in Bali. There seems to be no concrete achievement other than free advertising value for Australia. Sounds like a bit of waste of time to me! As for Gore, well, we all know that he benefited from the sales of his book and film about the climate change so that says it all! I am not advocating climate change is not an issue but I am merely questioning the objectivity of Gore talking to about the issue!

Gazza. Distorted sense of reality! Rudd move to the Liberal position. The Bali outcome will be same as Sydney declaration that was derided by Rudd. By the way, I wouldn't believe anything the Green say!
