A school of rare native fish, under threat from the drought will receive life-saving water today in a bid to save them from extinction.
The Southern Pigmy Perch live in a creek in the Mellewa State Forest, near Deniliquin in south west NSW.
The Murray-Darling Basin Commission and Forests NSW have started releasing a small amount of water into the creek, which has been monitored since last September.
It significantly deteriorated after Christmas.
