Angry backlash to video of Marine throwing puppy

WARNING DISTURBING FOOTAGE: YouTube video of Marine throwing puppy off cliff

There has been strong global backlash to an internet video that shows a US Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff in.

The video shows two Marines joking while one holds up a black and white puppy, which he then hurls into a ravine.

Military officials are investigating the video. Major Chris Perrine of the Marine Corps Base Hawaii says it appears the man is part of a unit based in the islands.

Marine officials have called the YouTube video "shocking and deplorable" saying it violates "the high standard we expect of every Marine"

Users of the video share website have also condemned the video.

There has been a flood of angry comments to the YouTube page, with some users posting one of the Marine's name and home address, urging people to protest at his house.

Warning: The attached video contains highly disturbing footage.

Those sick bastards, the video stalls on my p.c when he throws the pup, but even if they did not throw it, these so called "marines" need to be dropped from a chopper at 150 feet to see feel what this pup went through. Peacekeepers? I think this is just a made up word to make us think differently about these jerks.

That is sick. Those "MARINES" SHOULD know what it feels like. That video disgusted me. I felt like it was me being thrown off that cliff.My heart was torn.Those "MARINES" disgust me.It was a PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for Pete's sake,a PUPPY!!!!!!!!.This will come back to haunt them 3x. Even if I have to make sure of it.

Cowardley men (and I use the term loosely) always pick on defenseless creatures to prove to themselves and others how big and tough they are - NOT! Unfortunately, these idiots are brought up or should I say dragged up with no conscience and no regard for anything or anybody. I wonder if they will teach their children to be like just like them - GOD HELP US ALL! It's a sad reflection of how our world has changed - definitely not for the better!

Remember guys, this video has not been authenticated yet. It could be a fake. If it is indeed real, than all Marines participating should be discharged immediately. Most Marines I know would be disgusted at this video, so dont paint the whole USMC with the same brush. You get your bad eggs in every bunch.

If this is the morality of the marines, then following them anywhere is evil and low! This little dog looks like mine! When I hear of animal abuse I feel so ashamed to belong to the human race. Calling people "dogs" is totally misleading as most dogs represent all the good things in the world - loyalty, fidelity, affection, non-judgemental and fun!

If you think this is bad think about all those elderly folks in nursing homes who have dementia and can't remember being abused-their battered and bruised frail bodies as evidence to this abuse,are not fed and starved to death and you don't see anyone crying out about that-yes this is horrific but you need to look at what happens here who fought WW2 for freedom so that you could all enjoy a better life and in return they are subjected to prisons disguised as nursing homes in their later years.

What does the puppy being thrown have anything to do with eldery in nursing homes?? NOTHING! I'm sure if someone posted a video of the eldery being abused, people would have the same reaction. But because no one does see the abuse that goes on, no one talks about it.

Some people speculate that this video is fake, that the puppy isn't real, etc. Even if that were true, why would someone want to make it look like they DID such a horrible thing? Real or fake, they are jerks who deserve punishment. No sane person would think this is normal to pretend to kill a puppy. Hell has a special place reserved for these two jerks.

those stupid basterds. they had no right to do that. i dont care if they threw a paper bag off the cliff! this just proves how weak and stupid they think they really are. they just want to put innocent creatures down so they can feel good. mabye someone should pick them up and throw them off a cliff. mabye a bigger one infact. this is the crulest thing anyone can do to a poor innocent little creature. the little thing hadnt even gotten to live a full life because of them. jerks...

If the video is real - shame on them. they should be identified and brought to task. It is beyond the realms of decency that people should behave this way. If the video is fake, I would question their motives. If they are real soldiers they must have known it was going to reflect badly on them ?! If it's simply all pretend, then ha-ha the joke is on us ! Whatever, it must be remembered this behaviour isn't indicitive of anything, other than bad people exist all over the world.

This video is probably just the tip of the iceberg. I have never met a marine I liked, they are cocky and arrogant. This proves that they don't care about anything but themselves. My grandfather was a marine and my grandmother said he became a man when he left the corps. It's all bad from George Bush down to the recruiting officers. Our military and government needs a cleansing!

The video is a fake if you watch closely the puppy vanishes in mid-air proving it has been edited to appear that the dog was thrown off a cliff when in fact it was probably throwin to another person. The angle appears to be that the dog was thrown over top of a vehicle or other object

I can only hope this is fake. Even if it is proven to be so, it is still disturbing that they would find it amusing......I cannot understand such cruelty. I hope these guys get counseling because something is wrong. War does so much damage, psychologic and physical.......but it is no exuse for hurting a defenseless animal who has no part in it whatsoever, except for the misfortune of being born into a war.....I hope it is fake........for the puppy's sake, and the soldiers as well.
