Male drivers are more distracted

Male drivers are having accidents or near misses because they're too busy adjusting the car stereo, drinking or eating.

A survey by the NRMA has found women are less likely to be distracted behind the wheel.

Lyndell Coutts from the NRMA says she hopes the results prompt men to change their behaviour.

“It only takes a moment in attention to have tragic consequences driving a car, and particularly at Easter time…”
