Noll slurs way through concert

17/03/2008 6:10:00 PM.  | Tim Brunero
Singer Shannon Noll was booed and jeered by punters after stumbling and slurring his way through his set at the CMC Rocks The Snowys festival on Saturday night.

Punters at the festival, held at the Thredbo ski resort, said Noll was “virtually incoherent” and “couldn’t stop rambling and raving on about how proud he was to be a country boy he just wasn’t making any sense”.

“It was so appallingly bad it wasn’t funny…in the end people started booing and yelling out ‘just sing’ because he was making such a fool of himself,” said the concert goer.

Another audience member, said it was obvious Noll had been drinking.

“He was repeating himself the whole time, he let the f-word go a couple of times and then apologised because there could be kids around,” she said.

“He didn’t come across as the nice country guy like you see on TV, he came across as silly and a bit slow.”

Festival organisers diplomatically told News Limited the Australian Idol runner’s antics were “interesting” and they were left in no doubt “he was very happy to be there”.

The festival included country and roots acts like the John Butler Trio, Sugarland and Gary Allan at the two day festival, held at Thredbo’s ‘Friday Flats’.

Ok so Shannon made one mistake....get over it!!!! We all make mistakes, but because Shannon is in the business he is in he people like you write articles like this, which no doubt exagerates the truth. I'm sure there are far bigger acts in the world who have done far worse things which never make the press. I for one will be glad when Shannon does make a name for himself in America because then he wont have to put up with people like you putting him down every chance they get!

People are only human and we are not living in a perfect world and yes even SHANNON NOLL is allowed to be imperfect. Its people like you that give Shannon a bad name. This man is one of australias best talents ever but it seems to me that it is the little people of the world that are less successful who continually put him down. I dont ever see you commenting on all the CHARITY WORK that he does for nothing so why dont you go pick on an ex BB contestant and leave the poor man alone!

I wonder if the real reason the audience couldn't understand Shannon was because THEY were drunk. Get over it!! USA stars do a hell of a lot worse and you vultures lap it up.

we agree with Renee except the U.S doesn't leave famous people alone eg Brittany Spears,Amy Winehouse. Maybe they wouldn't be in the mess they were in if the press left their personal life as just that. We are a family of HUGE Shannon Noll fans and were disappointed to hear/read this incident but he should be allowed to make a occasional mistake without all the fuss. why not accept him as a human and LEAVE HIM ALONE

While it's nice to see a few of his fans in here defending him, I think it's funny that they're attacking the press for simply reporting on the incident. I'm sorry, but that's their job guys. And getting so drunk you can't even perform, let alone make sense, is unprofessional, tragic and newsworthy. Noll is not exempt from having stories written him, good or bad. This is not the first time his drinking has caused him problems, I hope he learns from it.

I was there and Shannon Noll did nothing for his image .. As a professional he should know better. Reading other comments .. he has no chance of making it in the USA Also understand that this is not the first time he has appeared on stage "drunk"

Firstly, I am no Shannon Noll or country music fan. Nonetheless, Mr Noll is a professional musician and people pay money to see him (no idea why!). Therefore he should not be drunk or "out of it" when performing. My employer doesn't allow me to be in that state when I work. And the press should report this; obviously the story is interesting judging from the interest shown here.

Either his fans are simply big head or ignorance just like him. Blame the media for his own wrong doing just so wrong, keep twisting the facts. Since when he's good at live singing? stick with the sound programming, American are easy to fool because all of them are drunk and glorify reality celebrity just like him like few of his fans claimed. We're happy to let him go because why we want him when all we have left are talented professional singers and stars who shone that night.

I am simply appalled at this story. I was at the Snowys not to see Shannon but other artists. Yes Shannon was having a great time along with every other person there who was drinking. A few pig headed people caused so much trouble for Shannon jeering at him from the beginning because they believed Shannon shouldn't be there and they made sure everyone knew about it. The majority of the crowd enjoyed Shannon's performance. The people I feel sorry for the most is Shannon and his family.
