Climate change is again in the spotlight, with a leading Australian scientist challenging dire predictions of global warming.

That follows the biggest single year temperature change on record - a drop of point seven degrees in the year to January.

Geophysicist Philip Chapman says he's not convinced by the current arguments on global warming - and says the drop is due to a slowdown in sun spot activity.

“If the sun spot cycle is delay, as it has been then the chances are excellent that the period of several decades of cooling.

“I think returning for the type of climate we had in the early 1800s is really possible.”

Now, where is Napoleon when his people need him? Can Nelson help us fight out of this desperate situation against climate alarmists like Gore and Flannery? We may not win, but we can hope to give them a warm reception.

Temperatures for this interglacial probably peaked about 13,000 years ago. There is evidence that climate change is linked to, if not controlled by, changes in the earth's magnetic field at the core-mantle boundary. See http://www.freewebs.com/psravenscroft for more, if interested. As you can't rev up clapped out old Holden's down there, those shifts, which link to the areas of highest surface warming, such as the Antarctic Peninsula, seem to rule out fossil fuel burning as the culprit.

Many people dismiss scientists who question the validity of global warming, when they accept Al Gore's theory and Al Gore is not even a scientist. Amazing!

Thankyou: Someone is finally talking common sense and putting things into perspective in relation to so called climate change/global warming panic some others try to spread. By the way, why hasn't the volcano erupting in Chile be mentioned on this site? It's probably because of the fact that 10 minutes of volcanic ash being spewed out generates more CO2 in the atmosphere than all the vehicles in China being driven for a year. The selective panic scientists don't what us knowing that though. Other common sense scientists have also indicated that 95 to 96 % of CO2 in the atmosphere occurs naturally. Why isn’t that information ever mentioned? You have to wonder.
