Bob Carr's third book has been described by the man himself as “a lot of useless information.”?

In ?My Reading Life? the intellectual former NSW Premier shares his well-publicised love of the written word and recommends a lifetime commitment to reading, including formidable classics by Tolstoy, Dostoyevsky, Flaubert and James Joyce.

Carr’s 422-page book serves up reviews and comparisons from spy fiction, crime fiction, quirky books on America and – of course - novels on Ancient Rome.

“That is the spirit of this book, there’s a lot of useless information in it. And that is something I think you'll want to share,”? says Carr.

Meanwhile, Mr Carr has told 2GB’s Alan Jones fears over the privatisation of the state's electricity assets are misguided and unions' obsession over public-ownership misplaced.

Mr Carr says unions need to ditch their obsession with the public ownership of assets because a national electricity system has made the issue irrelevant.

Of course Carr would be for the sale of the power company. What did hi do for nSW when he was Premier. We now have more state parks than we know what to do with full of ferals and no infrastructure. And what there is has been ripped off the NSW public by Macquarie Bank. If you want to meet Carr, you will find him daily having his cabinet mtgs at the Establishment in Bligh Street. Half way house between the bank and Delemmas house of cards. Pop in say hello, you will find them there most days.

Carr was bookish, but never intellectual. His choice of books reveals a chasm, a bias, which he was never able to overcome in government when he should have been representing all of his constituents. As opposition leader, he had the media onside. No great shakes there. He is full of useless facts, but little information.

As someone pointed out, this man's legacy is one of wasted opportunities. I met the man, he is impressive, highly intelligent, a great speaker. But so what? What did he do with it? Nothing. Nero fiddled while Rome burned and Carr read his books and contemplated the metaphysical nuances of the world while his state ran into ruin, corruption and decay crept into every nook and cranny and the greatest economic and property boom of the century got p...ssed away. Shame Mr. Carr, SHAME.

Bob Carr recommended the de-sal plant too, banned access to national parks, created national parks out of coastal waters to prevent recreational fishing and a myriad other anti-people activities. Bob - buzz off and get out of our lives.
