Current Australian Davis Cup player, Paul Hanley, has been arrested over an alleged date rape in London.
The 30-year-old is alleged to have invited a woman back to his home after they met at a bar near Wimbledon. Later the woman claimed to police that she had been raped.
Hanley, who now resides in London, has been bailed and is expected in court next month.
The doubles star partnered Lleyton Hewitt in the Davis Cup against Thailand in Townsville last month, which they won in straight sets.
London's The Sun newspaper reports that a file has been sent to prosecutors, with Hanley, who now resides in London, expected in court next month after posting bail.
The Queenslander is currently ranked 16th in the world in doubles, and has earned over $US1.9m in his career, reaching a career-high ranking of fifth in November, 2006.
Hanley's singles career ranking peaked in 2000 at 395, though much of his focus these days is on doubles, where he's enjoyed a prosperous career .
He won 21 ATP doubles titles, and featured in the semi finals of several Grand Slam events, including
the Australian Open (2006, 07), French Open (2003) and US Open (2006, 2007) and Wimbledon (2004).
