Aussie heart-throb Alex Dimitriades, star of The Nine Network's hit series Underbelly, has allegedly been caught drink-driving with a blood alcohol reading of 0.11.
The actor, who played the fitness freak killer "Mr T" in the popular drama show, has had his license suspended after returning a positive breath test at about 3:35am Saturday morning.
Dimitriades was driving down the fashionable strip of Oxford St, Paddington when he was pulled over by police.
The actor was taken to Surry Hills police station where he returned a blood alcohol reading double the legal limit.
He has been charged with a mid-range PCA offence, and is expected to face court this month.
If convicted, the charge carries a minimum six-month license suspension and possible jail time.
Dimitriades lent his voice and image to a anti-drink driving campaign called RADD - Recording Artists Actors and Athletes Against Drink Driving.
The campaign, started in the US by Sir Paul McCartney and launched in Australia in 2004, has been a nationwide success.
Laura Maclean, a spokesperson for RADD Australia, said that Dimitriades's incident was an unfortunate setback for the campaign.
"Naturally we are disappointed when even one of our 500 plus celebrities break the pledge they made to their fans." she said.
"It goes to show that there are many battles still to be fought before the war against drink driving is won. We don't intend to give up because of one setback".
