Wests Tigers captain Brett Hodgson will leave the club at the end of the season after signing a two-year deal with UK Super League club Huddersfield.
Hodgson is the latest in a string of NRL players to join the Super League, with the announcement coming a day after Parramatta hooker Mark Riddell confirmed he was joining Wigan.
Hodgson, in his 12th season of NRL football, was an integral part of the Tigers' fairytale premiership in 2005.
"It's a new chapter in my footballing career and in my life as well," he said.
"It's disappointing to obviously be leaving the Tigers where I've had wonderful memories in the last five years.
"It's going to be sad and disappointing but at the same time it's going to be exciting."
Off-contract Hodgson said the salary cap and little interest from other NRL clubs had made it a straightforward decision.
"The decision in final (came because of) the fact that there was a period there where there wasn't a lot of options," he told reporters.
Hodgson will join another member of the Tigers' premiership-winning team in prop John Skandalis at Huddersfield.
"It's sad when you've got that `05 group gradually starting to move on," Tigers coach Tim Sheens said.
Hodgson has played 212 first-grade games and six State Of Origin matches for NSW.
