Police suspect mother stabbed children before killing herself

Police are investigating whether a Sydney mother attacked her children before stabbing herself to death.

Police and ambulances were called to Cambewarra Crescent in Berowra Heights just after 5am this morning, after reports of a domestic incident.

When they arrived they found a 29-year-old woman stabbed to death.

Her four-year-old daughter has also suffered stab wounds, she is in a stable condition in Hornsby hospital.

People who know the family have been arriving at the scene throughout the morning, breaking down when police confirmed the address of where the attack occurred.

A five-year-old female has minor injuries, a nine-year-old boy and 31-year-old man who were also in the house at the time were unharmed.

The man is being spoken to by police.

Superintendent Craig Ray says it appears the man raised the alarm.

“A neighbour was contacted, or certainly spoken to by a 31-year-old male from the premises.”

Police are also investigating the possibility that the mother was responsible for the attack.

It’s believed the trio was not attacked by an intruder.

This is sooooo sad. I drive past each day and think what a tragedy - the loss of a young life and for all the family.
