St George Illawarra has secured the services of boom half Jamie Soward for a further two years.
The 23-year-old playmaker has found a home in the No.7 jersey since joining the Dragons mid-way through last season, and will now remain at the club until 2010.
Soward, a Wagga Wagga junior, made his NRL debut with the Roosters in round nine of season 2005 and has played a total of 43 games in the NRL, 21 of which have been for the Dragons.
"It’s great to have my future resolved and to know that I will be staying with the Dragons," said Soward.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity the Dragons gave me mid-last year and I have really enjoyed my time here right from day one.
“I believe that I am continually learning and improving here and will be aiming to cement a place in the halves not only for the rest of this season but for at least the next two years as well”.
Soward is currently the clubs leading point scorer with 44 this season and jointly holds the club record with Amos Roberts for Most Points in a match (22) which was set in Round 17 last year against the Raiders at WIN Stadium.
Dragons boss Peter Doust is pleased the retention of Soward is finalised and believes he will be an integral part of the squad in the coming years.
"Jamie came to us under difficult circumstances last year and has fitted in very well at our club," said Doust.
"He has represented the club with great enthusiasm both on and off the field and we are happy that he has chosen to stay at the Dragons."
