Port Adelaide star Shaun Burgoyne has been suspended for three games after losing his challenge at the AFL tribunal tonight.
Burgoyne was charged with engaging in rough play against Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell in Launceston last Saturday in an incident which left the Hawks skipper unconscious.
Burgoyne argued he had eyes only for the ball when he ran past Mitchell and made accidental contact to his opponent's temple with his back.
But after 37 minutes of deliberation, the tribunal jury found him guilty, although it downgraded one aspect of his offence, from high impact to medium impact.
That concession reduced his penalty to two games, but carry-over points increased the penalty to three games.
In the other case tonight, Hawthorn's Ben McGlynn will contest his charge of engaging in rough play against Port's Kane Cornes, which carries a three-game suspension.
Burgoyne and McGlynn are the only players who will appear at the tribunal tonight.
Hawthorn's Shane Crawford today accepted a one-game suspension for striking Port's Dean Brogan off the ball.
It will be the second time this season Crawford is on the sidelines suspended, as he missed the first three games of the season for striking North Melbourne's Daniel Harris in last year's semi-final.
West Coast's Matt Rosa accepted a reprimand for striking Kangaroo Matt Campbell.
Essendon's Kyle Reimers accepted a $1,950 fine for making negligent contact with an umpire, while Fremantle's Dean Solomon ($1,800) and the Western Bulldogs' Tom Williams ($900) accepted fines for wrestling each other.
