Hawthorn midfielder Ben McGlynn has had his suspension extended to four games after he lost a challenge at the AFL tribunal tonight.
McGlynn pleaded guilty to engaging in rough play against Port Adelaide's Kane Cornes last Saturday in Launceston, but argued his contact was negligent instead of reckless.
However the tribunal jury agreed with the match review panel's original finding and upheld the verdict.
McGlynn had his penalty increased to four games because he was unsuccessful in his challenge.
In the other case heard tonight, Port star Shaun Burgoyne was suspended for three games after he lost his challenge against a charge of engaging in rough play on Hawthorn skipper Sam Mitchell.
After 37 minutes of deliberation, the tribunal jury decided to downgrade one aspect of Burgoyne's charge, high impact to medium.
That reduced the penalty to two games, but Burgoyne's carry-over points increased the penalty to three matches.
Burgoyne and McGlynn were the only players who appeared at the tribunal tonight.
Hawthorn's Shane Crawford today accepted a one-game suspension for striking Port's Dean Brogan off the ball.
It will be the second time this season Crawford is on the sidelines suspended, as he missed the first three games of the season for striking North Melbourne's Daniel Harris in last year's semi-final.
West Coast's Matt Rosa accepted a reprimand for striking Kangaroo Matt Campbell.
Essendon's Kyle Reimers accepted a $1,950 fine for making negligent contact with an umpire, while Fremantle's Dean Solomon ($1,800) and Bulldog Tom Williams ($900) accepted fines for wrestling each other.
