Human remains, possibly of Australian soldiers, have been found at the scene of one of the major battles in France during World War One.
It's thought the remains are from some of the four hundred Australian and British soldiers who died during the Battle of Fromelles in 1916.
Defence Science and Personnel Minister Warren Snowdon says the body parts which have been found will be examined to determine the next step in the excavation.
“An arm and a hand… are the parts of the body [that have been found],” he told reporters.
“But until we have the French police do their investigation we can’t presume any further.”
