Former Manchester United star David Beckham has told his replacement at the club, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, not to do what Beckham did and leave the club for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ronaldo, who carried United to the Premier League and Champions League titles this season, is considering making a switch to Real, where Beckham moved in 2003.
But the former England captain, now on an astronomical deal at American club Los Angeles Galaxy, says Ronaldo should stay put.
“I believe he’s at the right club now, a club he should stay at,” Beckham told BBC Sport.
“He’s only been there a few years. He’s got a lot of people around him there who will protect him.
“As much as Real are a great team and one of the biggest clubs in the world, he’s only just starting at United.”
Ronaldo is expected to make an announcement regarding his future in the next few days but may wait until the conclusion of the European Championships, which begin this weekend.
The 23-year-old scored 42 goals for United this season – a stunning return for a winger.
