A Polish woman was so intoxicated during her labour, her baby was born 15 times over the limit.
When the 38-year-old woman arrived drunk at the hospital, staff immediately called the police.
Police say the mother’s blood test revealed she had consumed around the equivalent of a bottle of wine or two litres of beer.
The baby girl, who was born with a blood alcohol level of 0.29 percent, is in no immediate danger, although doctors say her development may be affected.
The mother has been charged with endangering the life and health of her child, and faces five years in prison.
