The parents of two French students killed in a frenzied stabbing attack in their London home have pleaded to the killers to turn themselves in.
Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were found gagged and bound in their charred southeast London unit last week – police have released their only suspect.
Now in a desperate bid to find their son’s murderers, their parents have made a public outcry.
"We plead with you to turn yourselves in to the police. You will not be able to live in hiding forever. You may be scared and feel like a coward, but you must recognise this terrible mistake you made,” Francoise and Olivier Ferez said in a statement.
“Rest assured that we will not leave you in peace."
The boys were in London for three months on a study exchange program, and were due back home later this month.
Last Sunday the pair became the victims of a “horrific” attack - they were tortured for several hours, Bonomo was stabbed nearly 200 times, and Ferez 50.
The nature of their deaths has horrified experienced police officers and detectives.
Police arrested a 21-year-old man on Saturday, but he was released "with no further action" the following day.
Witnesses have described men they saw fleeing the unit after it was set alight to hide evidence.
Police have issued an e-fit of the man described by surrounding residents.
The attackers are described as being white, between 30 and 40 years old, of slight or slim build and wearing a light coloured baseball cap and a dark top, blue jeans and white trainers.
"We have plenty of forensic opportunities which will help us identify the killer or killers," a police source told the News of the World newspaper.
"It would be almost impossible for one man alone to inflict that level of injuries."
