Premier Morris Iemma has revealed he plans to ask the Pope to bless his family, when the pair meet at a function in Sydney tomorrow.

Half a million people are expected to turn out for the Pontiff's arrival on Sydney Harbour, before he is taken to a special reception at Government House.

Mr Iemma has told 2GB's Phillip Clark he is bringing his children to the event.

"I've thought about this and the most important thing I could say would be for him to bless my family, my kids.

"We're able to bring the kids along, it'll be highlight for their life and for me as well."
