Warnings over Rudd’s plan to slash fuel excise

17/07/2008 6:15:00 AM.  |
Motorists will be shielded from any massive hikes in petrol under Labor's emissions trading plans, but green groups say it's a big mistake.

The price of fuel is expected to rise once it's included in the scheme, but the Government will cut the excise to ensure we don't pay more at the bowser.

John Connor from the Climate Institute says overall the plans are good, but the petrol idea is a horrible waste of money.

“We’ll be ripping billions of dollars out of the climate action fund through this petrol excise reduction.

“What’s also not great is that we’re unclear about what assistance will then be given to our neighbouring, developing countries to clean up their development.”

John Connor, prove to us all there is a Climate problem. And Australia is as bad as you and your raving loony tunes say it is. And why do you want your greedy hands on these funds for what? Why are you and the Labor party hell bent on destroying the Australian economy? Global warming what global warming? We have had a 1/5th of a degree Temp change in 100 years?

John Connor, Why should we help developing countries. China has US$1.4Trillion in reserves and growing. They are going Nuclear as is the UK whose paying for this, Australia?. Thank goodness for the likes of Brian Wilshire on 2GB that has seen through this rubbish you and your mates are trying to sell to us and the world. China, India, Russian, US do not give a hoot what you and Rudd think or say. You want to destroy the economy.

Andy MacAnonymous. No one has to prove anything to you, like the Flat Earth believers and Dinosaurs you and the rest of your minority are simply no longer relevant. The world is moving on, and the impotent protests of minorities like you and your ilk are simply background noise to be ignored. Enjoy your pointlessness, or try to adjust. It would be good if you could also try just being quiet.

First off, why can't his last name just be Mac? Its entirely possible that it is, not "MacAnonymous" and the minority, how do you know you aren't the minority. Unfortunately the government in power believes believe in this farce but that doesn't mean the majority of people do. Stand out on the street and ask you would be very suprised how many "flat earth" believers there are and is your opinion that all minorities should be ignored? Women, aboriginals, Africans.....

hehehe Graeme Henderson. The World has moved on, Graeme, China, India and the US are doing what is best for their economies and could not care less what Australia Labor is doing. And they are about to destroy the Australian economy. Have another XXXX mate, put your feet up and enjoy the sunset while you can, and do not forget to collect you payment from the Rudd government this month. I have no intention of staying quiet, it is my democratic right, Mein Herr.

Andy MacAnonymous, Your last post started well and headed downhill to your usual level. You are entitled to keep spouting your warnings like a modern day Hanrahan, just so long as you understand that mugs like you can simply be steamrolled by the more intelligent people. You refer to the USA under Bush, things will soon change once that stooge for the oil industry is gone. China can't burn coal Australia doesn't sell to them. China can be brought to it's knees pretty quickly.

Folks, lets NOT get too excited. Australia contributes (at best) 1% to global emissions. We are something like 89th on the list of emitters. Apart from driving Australia to a peasant based economy, there is about as much hope in Rudd's grandstanding as there is Melbourne's chances of winning an AFL premiership. Nuclear power is clean. Wake up and get on and use the natural wealth we have in the ground. Mine the rest of the coal and sell it to China, OTHERWISE SOMEONE ELSE WILL!
