Sydney FC striker John Aloisi has been ruled out for up to six weeks because of a foot injury and is set to miss the start of the A-League season.
The marquee player was on track with his recovery from a knee injury but has been hit by a separate setback that will put him out of action for up to six weeks, placing the 32-year-old in doubt for Sydney's season-opener against Melbourne Victory on August 16.
The injury reportedly occurred while Aloisi was filming a new A-League in Melbourne last week.
Aloisi had been preparing to sit out Saturday night's opening pre-season cup match against the Queensland Roar through suspension, but will now miss up to five extra weeks with the foot injury.
"You've got to cope with these sorts of things, but look it's better that it happened now than in season, much better," Sydney FC coach John Kosmina said today.
