Carlton chief executive Greg Swann says the AFL club is likely to wait until the end of the season before it resumes negotiations on full-forward Brendan Fevola's contract.
The Blues and Fevola have been unable to strike a deal all season, despite the club having made an offer and the player saying he wants to stay at Carlton.
Swann said the Blues board is likely to decide tomorrow night to put the contract talks off until after the season is over.
"That's probably the most likely thing that will happen," Swann said.
"We've got seven (games) to go now and it has dragged on for too long and everyone's getting sidetracked, so I'd say that would be the most likely outcome that we'll fix it at the end of the year.
"Something along those lines might happen."
