Govt releases clean car guide

A new car guide that exposes the vehicles that emit the highest levels of carbon, will be released today.

The federal government commissioned website rates the six cylinder Holden Commodore as the biggest offender, emitting 2.6 tonnes of carbon.

Transport Minister Anthony Albanese says the site will allow Australians to make informed choices about the car they buy.

In most modern countries this info is already available. Now the our Govt has worked this out and decided to throw it to us in a bid to make us buy lean cars, will they make rules for our designs to be less pollutant? When will we see cars taken off the road for blowing blue? I ride a motorcycle and can tell you, nothing worse than a car burning more oil than fuel! Yet daily the same cars are on the road. DID the old yellow ticket get abolished?

meant to be. Our Govt just couldn't see the smog at LA and new mexico as proof it wouldnt be, so they threw in the lead kills bit to help. Remember, QLD gov has just spent $Millions on an ethanol study for its viiability as a fuel. They too counldn't see the fact its been doing ok in Brasil as a fuel for 25+ yrs. maybe its different here? Hydrogen was used in ww2 for over 1mill. vehicles, today its too hard to do? Go figure. Emission from Hydrogen= h2o
