Port suspend bad boy Burgoyne

24/07/2008 5:35:00 PM.  | AAP
Port Adelaide star Peter Burgoyne has been suspended by the AFL club for one match for disciplinary reasons.

Burgoyne presented to training about a month ago "in an unfit manner for training", the Power said in a statement.

Burgoyne has not played since injuring a hamstring in the round 12 fixture against Geelong on June 15.

Port's leadership group, which includes his brother, Shaun, decreed that Burgoyne serve a one match suspension when he was fit to play again, the statement said.

The 221-game veteran will play in the SANFL this weekend.

Meanwhile, forward Brett Ebert has signed a new contract with Port Adelaide, tying him to the AFL club until the end of 2011.
