Protester glues himself to Gordon Brown

24/07/2008 8:27:00 AM.  |
Environmental protest group Plane Stupid says one of its activists briefly glued himself to Britain's prime minister.

Plane Stupid says 24-year-old student Dan Glass slathered glue onto his hand and grasped the arm of Gordon Brown's suit during an awards ceremony Tuesday.

An audio clip released by the group carries the sound of Brown laughing as Glass explains he is conducting a non-violent protest.

Glass is then heard lecturing Brown about climate change and criticising plans to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport.

A Brown spokesman says the "lighthearted" protest did not last very long because the glue wasn't that sticky and that Glass will not be punished.

The spokesman spoke on condition of anonymity in line with office policy.
