Golden Slipper winner Sebring will miss the Spring Carnival after scans revealed the champion two year old is suffering a serious leg injury.
The Gai Waterhouse trained galloper has been sent to the paddock where he’s expected to make a full recovery from a bruised cannon bone.
A son of More Than Ready, Sebring was Australia’s star two-year-old this season with wins in the G1 Golden Slipper and G1 Sires Produce Stakes before he tasted his only defeat when thwarted in his attempts to claim the 2YO Triple Crown by Samantha Miss in the G1 Champagne Stakes.
A $130,000 yearling purchase, Sebring was sold in May to Widden Stud for a reported $30 million and he will be retired for next year’s breeding season.
