Tom Cruise involved in Top Gun sequel rumours

26/07/2008 3:14:00 PM.  | Daniel O'Leary

Top Gun star Tom Cruise could be headed to the danger zone again if certain media reports are to be believed.

UK tabloid The Sun reported yesterday that Cruise was yet to commit to the deal that would see the War of the Worlds star revive his famous role as Maverick in Top Gun II.

The original cult classic cemented Cruise as a Hollywood heavyweight and has since developed a dedicated legion of fans with it’s over the top drama and cringe worthy love scenes.

It has been 22 years since Cruise felt the need for speed, but according to The Sun Maverick’s wings could be clipped in the new film.

“The idea is Maverick is at the Top Gun school as an instructor - and this time it is he who has to deal with a cocky new female pilot" is the plot synopsis offered by "insiders”, The Sun reported.

The FBI has just opened an account dealing specifically with the crimes and abuses of Scientology, the cult organisation that Tom Cruise recruits for. I will never support him or his films again after I found out that Scientology abuses children, forces abortions, disconnects members from their families and hunts down critics. No thank you, Mr Cruise.
