Williams to play for Toulon on Friday

4/08/2008 10:54:00 AM.  | Dominic Brock
Sonny Bill Williams is set to make his debut for French rugby union team Toulon this Friday after finalising his deal with the club this week.

Toulon club president Mourad Boudjellal says Williams will officially sign on with the club in the next couple of days, and could play in a friendly match against Carqueirannes-Hyeres this week.

"Williams will be in Toulon on Monday or Tuesday. We have discussed things with his agents and we are going to try and complete the move,” Boudjellal told Agence France-Presse.

"If everything goes well, he will have his medical on Tuesday and could make his debut in a friendly match on Friday."

The New Zealand-born Williams, who turned 23 yesterday, abandoned NRL club the Bulldogs last week to join Toulon, who are coached by former All Black Tana Umaga.
