Hard rock trio Wolfmother, who only just completed a gig at last weekend's music festival Splendour In The Grass, are on the verge of a split, according to industry rumours.
Apparently the relationship between frontman Andrew Stockdale and keyboardist Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett has been fraught with tension for some time.
Despite their profile, the band have only ever released one album, 2004’s Wolfmother, which landed the group a Grammy Award.
Wolfmother were the first Aussie group since Men At Work in 1983 to win a Grammy, winning Best Hard Rock Performance, with the record’s breakthrough hit, Woman.
Despite their limited releases the band have featured new material at their many festival appearances in the past 18 months.
The cancellation of the band’s interviews at the Byron Bay festival Splendour In The Grass has led to the most recent whispers the band are to break up.
But their management was tight-lipped, saying the band is trying to “work through some issues” and are hoping to “release a statement in the next few days.”
There are suggestions Wolfmother may continue as an entity - with Stockdale working with other musicians.
