A Melbourne man who claimed his wife had set fire to herself two years ago has been arrested over her death today.
The 25-year-old mother of one died from severe burns after being set alight in the garage of her Doveton home, in Melbourne's outer east, in June 2006.
She died in The Alfred hospital two days later.
Her husband, 33, claimed she had set fire to herself following an argument.
Police said the family had migrated to Australia from Fiji in November 2005.
Arson squad Detective Senior Sergeant Steve White said he was pleased an 18 month international investigation had resulted in today's arrest.
"The professionalism and dedication shown by the detectives involved in this investigation has been outstanding," Det White said in a statement.
The 33-year-old man is being interviewed at the St Kilda Road police complex and is expected to be charged with one count of murder, police said.
