The Dragons have today confirmed the worst kept secret of the rugby league season - Darius Boyd will don the Red V from 2009.
Following incoming coach Wayne Bennett down the coast, Boyd has signed a three year contract with St George Illawarra.
The 21-year-old Queensland winger will join recent signings Neville Costigan and Luke Priddis at the Dragons next season, each of whom has already played under the tutelage of Bennett.
"To be joining the Dragons next year will be great for my career and to be playing for such a proud club with so much history and tradition is something to which I'm looking forward," Boyd said.
Dragons boss Peter Doust says Boyd's youth and uncapped potential were key factors in his signing.
"Darius will join the Dragons at a very good stage of his career," said Doust, with Boyd having made his Origin debut this year.
"He was good enough to play State of Origin this year and is a quality NRL player that we are excited about having at the Dragons."
Boyd’s signing was inadvertently leaked via a slip in a Dragons media release last week.
