Australia is facing its most embarrassing US Open tennis campaign ever, with Casey Dellacqua rated our best chance at a massive $251 to win the women’s title.
Since the withdrawal of Lleyton Hewitt – who has plummeted out of the world’s top 50 due to injury – Chris Guccione is rated the most likely Australian man to go all the way.
He’s been given odds of $1001.
“It’s the first time in recent memory an Aussie hasn’t been seeded at Flushing Meadows, which is embarrassing given our rich history in the sport,” said Gerard Daffy from Lasseters Sportsbook.
New world No.1 Rafael Nadal is the hot favourite to become the men’s champion at $2.35, ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic (both $4.00), while Serena Williams is the favourite in the women’s event at $4.50.
