Victory to recall star duo

28/08/2008 1:09:00 PM.  | AAP
Melbourne Victory are set to recall first-choice goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos, while Socceroo striker Archie Thompson will also be named in the squad to take on A-League champions Newcastle at Telstra Dome tomorrow night.

Theoklitos trained well today after recovering from an ankle injury which ruled him out of the Victory's 4-2 win over Wellington Phoenix last weekend.

And Thompson is fit again after overcoming a foot injury sustained at the Olympic Games.

Coach Ernie Merrick said a medical meeting later today would determine the fate of both players.

But Thompson would appear most likely to start from the bench, with Danny Allsopp and new signing Ney Fabiano impressing up front last weekend in the Socceroo's absence.

The Victory currently sit on top of the ladder on goal difference after a win and a draw in their two matches this season, with Newcastle fourth.
