Cash incentives lure specialised teachers

31/08/2008 9:45:00 AM.  | Amie Meehan
It's hoped cash incentives will boost the number of maths and science university students becoming teachers.

The Federal Government is extending its $625 million package to graduates who take up primary school teaching positions, bringing their specialist expertise.

Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard has told Channel Ten, it's all about lifting children's numeracy skills.

“We’re absolutely focused on making sure every school in this country is a great school.”

“To do that we’ve got to improve teacher quality right round and we’ve got to lift up the circumstances of those schools that are falling behind,” she said.

So bloody simple, pay a decent wage & you will get decent workers. This applies to all jobs- Instead of crapping on that people won't work for award wages, pay them a decent wage. This bullshit of award rates is well below the poverty line & just an excuse for low life politicians to turn Australia into a third world country by bringing in slave labour from other countries.Just another sell out to big business.Andof course the useless ACTU & its unions avoid it all costs----WHY????????
