Brett Holman could soon be joining fellow Australians Brett Emerton and Vince Grella at English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers.
The club's new manager Paul Ince has reportedly begun talks about buying the talented midfielder from Dutch club AZ Alkmaar as a replacement for David Bentley.
The People newspaper in Britain said while AZ Alkmaar had only recently signed the 24-year-old Socceroo, Ince was keen to buy him and offer the Dutch club a quick profit.
"Ince is trying to persuade AZ to take around STG2.5 million ($A5.29 million) for Holman, who cost STG1.5 million ($A3.17 million) two months ago," the newspaper said.
"The Dutch club are reluctant to sell but would take defender Andre Ooijer in part-exchange."
Holman has spent the past six seasons in Holland.
If he makes the move to England, he will be following hot on the heels of Grella, who joined Blackburn last week after transferring from his Italian Serie A club Torino.
Grella, Emerton and Holman have been named in the Socceroos' 27-man squad for a friendly match against the Netherlands on September 6.
