Stranded Aussies to return home from Phuket today

Hundreds of Australians stranded on the Thai island of Phuket will fly back into Sydney today.

The holidaymakers became stranded on Friday when airports in the region were closed because of political demonstrations.

Simon Westaway from Jetstar says the airline has made sure those affected have been looked after.

“We think we’ve reacted very well – we diverted an aircraft that was on route to Phuket at the time to Bangkok.

“We provided all passengers that were affected, with revised travel options, accommodation…”
