Just a week ago Levi Johnston was just another teenage small town hockey jock, but today the father-to-be was hugging the man who could be the next US President - in front of the world's media.

The news that 17 year-old Bristol Palin was five months pregnant emerged just days after John McCain picked her mother to be his running mate.

Today the young parents-to-be received a warm welcome by McCain at Minnesota airport ahead of Palin's address at the Republican party convention, where the first time governor from Alaska will be formally sworn in.

McCain twice hugged Bristol, pumped the Levi's hand, and embraced them as a couple.

But locals from their hometown of Wasilla, population around 8,500, say the couple have been dating for just over a year.

"He was a good kid to be around, with lots of friends. He was well-liked," Wasilla Warriors' ice hockey coach Bill Sturdevant told the New York Daily News.

And his friend, Blake Weiland, told the paper Johnston was looking forward to being a dad. "I know him very well, though, and I know he'll be a great father and husband."

"....locals from their hometown of Wasilla, population around 8,500, say the couple have been dating for just over a year." Seems the young couple got busy right away. Must have been lust at first sight.

Now what on earth do the media, or for that matter the people of the USA, want to know about these kids? The kids aren't running for Presidency, Leave them be to try to live through their own jungle of life. What is it that when ever elections are on, we see people being belittled? Do pollititcians have a set requirement to "chew" all in its path to attain their own selfish goals? Pitifull life if it is.

It is a shame that the Republicans and their army of Fundamentalist supporters are not more interested in the health and welfare of their fellow citizens!!!!! Millions of Americans have NO access to health care as we know it!!!!! Then again Christians today are all about greed and injustice!!!!!

Brenton. 1) My experience as an American citizen in the Midwest... All of the people I know who still are traveling to places like New Orleans and Cedar Rapids to forfeit their personal lives to rebuild other people's lives they don't even know are "fundamentalist", religiously motivated and good people. 2) Not sure Americans want the UK version of health care. We understand you have some serious problems as well. 3) Try samaritanspurse.org, fhi.net, worldrelief.org to name 3 of hundreds.
