They form the most unlikely halves partnership in the NRL, but Terry Campese and Alan Tongue insist their new combination has plenty to offer - and could even lead the Raiders to their first title since 1994.
Tongue, Canberra's Mr Fix It, has become Campese's third partner in just eight matches after troubled half Todd Carney was axed by the club and rookie fill-in Marc Herbert was injured against the Rabbitohs in Round 24.
Despite a minor injury-related hiccup against the Cowboys, Campese has been in sizzling form at the business end of the season and has sparked a style of fearless attack which is keeping the Raiders in finals calculations.
But with their powers combined, Campese says they'll use Sunday's clash against the cellar-dwelling Bulldogs to launch themselves into a semi-final charge.
"I'm looking forward to playing alongside Tonguey again," Campese told News Limited.
"I'm sure we'll complement each other, but it's important the whole team plays well together."
"And there's no way we can take them lightly.
"We played North Queensland last weekend, who were in a similar position on the ladder, and look what happened. We can't take any side lightly, otherwise they will run over the top of us."
Tongue is expecting Campese to enter this clash at peak fitness and has promised a better showing.
"We had a disrupted preparation (with the injury to Herbert) and we didn't have much time before heading up to play North Queensland," Tongue said.
"I'm not making excuses for our performance. We were poor around the ruck, we were on the back foot for most of the game and Aaron Payne just cut us to pieces.
"But this week we've had more time to prepare and fit in a few ball sessions.
"I won't say last week was a bit of a wake-up call, but it's certainly motivated us to do well this week."
While a win against the Bulldogs could propel them as high as sixth, a loss could see the Raiders slip out of the finals race altogether.
