Socceroos strike injury drama

6/09/2008 2:01:00 PM.  |
Socceroos midfielder Vince Grella and defender Mark Milligan will miss tomorrow's friendly with the Netherlands through injury and are in doubt for Australia's World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan.

The pair failed to complete training yesterday near Eindhoven, which will host the match against the Dutch at 8.45pm local time (0445 Sunday AEST).
Grella pulled up with a calf injury, while Milligan suffered an ankle complaint.

Team medical staff will assess both players further to determine whether they can take part in the Socceroos' World Cup Asian group qualifying match against Uzbekistan in Tashkent early on Thursday (AEST).

That match is Australia's first of eight in the fourth stage of qualification for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
