Arnold Schwarzenegger admits to marijuana use with Cheech & Chong actor

22/09/2008 4:12:00 PM.  | Jesse Perez

Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger has had a checkered past at best – with his admission of marijuana and steroid usage in the 70’s and openly detailing his womanizing ways – but it gets deeper.

He has recently admitted to getting high with Tommy Chong – the spaced out stoner from the Cheech and Chong film series.

Celebrity website TMZ recently spoke to Schwarzenegger, suggesting that Chong admitted smoking marijuana with the Terminator actor – a suggestion Arnold didn’t deny.

“He was right. We always had a good time we know how to enjoy ourselves.”

While Schwarzenegger was in good humour about the questioning of his past – he did appear serious.

As a Republican, he created controversy amongst the more conservative minded sections of politics for his free admission of drug use.

In October 2007, Schwarzenegger defended his actions with the claim that, "[Cannabis] is not a drug. It's a leaf."

In 2003, Chong spent time in a U.S prison for drug paraphernalia charges - his "Chongs Bongs" online pipe store was raided in and Chong was put under arrest.

He is currently performing in a re-union tour with long time partner Richard "Cheech" Marin.

So what? That was then, this is now. He was thick into the Hollywood scene in those days. Most entertainers are into the booze, sex and drugs thing. That's how they get the courage to get up and do what they do to entertain us. If I were them, I'd do the same thing.

"In October 2007, Schwarzenegger defended his actions with the claim that, "[Cannabis] is not a drug. It's a leaf." This is one of the stupidest remaks yet. Alot of drugs come from plants, digitalis is a plant, aspirin is a bark, etc.

This is just another example of focusing on a mote! The so called "war on drugs" failure is partly to blame on this unreasonable focus on pot and falsly linking it with far more destructive substances such as cocain and heroin. If marijuana were decriminalized/legalized it would mean that many people would grow their own. This would reduce crime by taking the Pot profit away form gangs, terrorist and other criminal organizations. Another benefit would be far less minor offenders in jails.

True words from a loser liberal stoner. Your logic and reasoning for de-criminalizing the drug went the same way as your brain. I have taken away keys from stoned friends in the past because they were not of the right mind to be controlling a car. They were worse than when they had a few beers. It is a drug and it must stay listed as a drug and be fought with our resources, otherwise people who use it will become an idiot just like those wanting it legal.

Marijuanna has been used by mankind for at least 5000 years. In that time, there has never been a death directly attributable to the affects caused by using Marijuanna. However, drinking 10 oz. of 100 proof liquor straight down will kill most people. Now, you tell me which one should be illegal. It is also true that alcohol use generally leads to violence, whereas I've never seen two pot-heads engaged in fisticuffs or other violent activity due to intoxication. So, which should be illegal?

As a Kid/adolescent, i always thoght it should be legal, then decriminalised , now, leave it as it is. William, i refute you on the no attributal deaths, many have suicided because of the Pyschosis from the power breeds of Marij. The concentration levels in " new era" weed is extremely savage on the psyhcolgical profile of kids in particular. many adults are finding themselves in mental health with " rage " issues from withdrawl from marij. as well. Get out of the house lad, look around.

John Howard told the States to pick up on the Anti-marij here in return for mental health funding, one of the few things he did that had real merit. It may have a place in society, medically, however to say its fine for recreational use is tad false. The OLD HIPPY weed is a thing of the past William, strangely enough, the Hippy doesnt seem far behind it.

William, Could you please share the proof that you have to back up your statement that marijuana has been used by mankind for 5000 years. Also, how could you possibly state that "In that time, there has never been a death directly attributable to the affects caused by using Marijuanna." ? Do you have access to records of the last 5000 years? That kind of wrong thinking comes from smoking marijuana.

Thank you for this unimportant story. The world, not U.S., the world economy is on the brink and some idiot thinks that an actor's marijuana use is somehow newsworthy.

The War on Drugs is all about Power! Power over the People! Power to control the money! Power to create jobs in perpetuity! The whole scam has had more the enough time to play out as a failure! Of course, its government! Government has no reason to function effectively! Government actually likes the failure because it can portrait the chaos from the street level to the courts to the prisons as evidence that even more needs to be done. That more being higher taxes, more laws and less freedoms!

Arnie knows! Illegal weed is a hypocritical by-product of our Nazi US government interference on our right to ingest what we want. Almost everyone has smoked it...but it seems like our politicians are high every time they make new laws. Any pig or pol that tells you it must stay this way is making money off it. Greed is the issue, not justice...that's BS.

Where did you find info that supports the statement that marijuana use causes suicidal tendencies and rage issues? Maybe laced with LCD!! Withdrawls!? I've never experienced that. Compared with other drugs, illegal or presciption, marijanuna is the least of our problems. Ask pot smokers what the side effects are and they most likely won't say thoughts of suicide and rage. Give me a break buddy.

To be honest about all this. I have never seen anyone die from smoking pot maybe from a coughing fit but not from smoking pot itself. It was said by someone other than myself that there are 3 stages to pot happy hungry sleepy!!!!!!! Now i have smoked my share of pot in the past and even tryed the new strains that are out there now and the man that said the new strains are more dangerious than ever is totaly full of himself and selfcentered as i found them as they were in the past some ok

The sad thing is that while politicians laugh and winkwink nudgnudge over their former of currant enjoyment of marijuana, normal average citizens are doing heavy prison time for the same activities. To speak fondly of such behavior while people languish in prison for the same thing is blatant unfeeling hypocrisy. I don't know if marijuana should be legalized, but I do think that if one is going to speak so highly of it, he should actively promote the same freedom for those he represents.

I like how Arnold has a "checkered" past because he admits to smoking pot! What about his six Olympia titles, success in real estate or college degree? I guess those things don't matter to this scumbag journalist. As long as there is something bad you can say about him he now has a "checkered past". Jesse Perez why don't you get a honorable job! Dirtbag!

Randy Morrison - Its a story. Its interesting. You might not agree with it, but it got you reading. His six Olympia titles etc etc are not newsworthy, because its already known. It was not known before that he smoked pot with Tommy Chong. It is now! Take it how you will.

Jack Johnson, Kansas City, It is medicine. Has been for thousands of years. It is largely harmless but even if it killed en masse (like alcohol), this is America. It should be legal simply because govt. has no right to prohibit it. Move to China, you fascist control freak...
