Men continue to fight over Anna Coren

Anna Coren has been spectacularly booted from the Today Tonight anchoring chair by network boss David Leckie and will present her last bulletin tomorrow night.

The glamorous 33-year-old had been due to stay in her presenting role for another seven weeks but Leckie and news boss Peter Meakin are said to be anxious to get her out - such is the bad blood over the manner of her departure.

Coren auditioned for a role with CNN in secret when she was on holidays in July.

Leckie was said to be furious over the move and Meakin has been far from warm in his public comments about Coren as her contract negotiations with Seven had played themselves out in the media.

“It would be good if she stayed, but it’s not compulsory for her to work at Channel Seven,” said Meakin at the time.

But Coren will have dramas of her own when she arrives for her new job in Hong Kong in December.

Her ex-boyfriend, hedge fund manager Adam Upton, is based in the south-east Asian city.

Upton was linked to Coren until only January last year.

Since then she has hooked up with former Today Tonight producer Andrew Bourke, who left the show under a cloud after Seven lost the infamous Mercedes Corby defamation case.

Coren is apparently still in contact with Upton, who is a keen amateur boxer.
