The toughest Aussie sports star ever: Captain Grumpy?

In a selection that's bound to cause plenty of debate, cricketing legend Allan Border has been rated Australia's toughest ever sportsman in a list complied by Alpha magazine.

Border claimed the top gong ahead of renowned AFL hard man Leigh Matthews and raspy-voiced rugby league tough-nut Tommy Raudonikis.

Livenews.com.au rugby league expert Steve ''Blocker'' Roach got a guernsey at number 78, with other notable entries including cycling's comeback-queen Anna Meares (7), and paralympic skier Michael Milton (27).
