Time for Tahu to expel some demons

15/10/2008 1:54:00 PM.  | Peter Cassidy
Timana Tahu insists he's "let go" of the demons which have haunted him since his horrific first Test start against the Springboks, and sys he’s hitting the training paddock harder than ever.

The league convert was singled out by the South Africans during their 53-8 demolition of the Wallabies on August 30, and Tahu admits the performance left him shattered.

"It did take me a couple of weeks to get over it but I've let it go," he told News Limited.

"It was pretty disappointing for me in my first starting game. It happens to everyone. You live it, you learn from it and you move on."

Determined to make his mark on the international scene, Tahu threw himself straight back into the tough stuff.

"You just have to keep preparing yourself and if something happens (coach) Robbie (Deans) will have confidence in me because he knows I've done the work."

He has even started using computer technology to analyse his own game.

"The hardest thing for me was getting on there and actually doing that sort of stuff," Tahu said.

"I think it's like going on a diet - the first day is really hard but after that you get into a rhythm.

"For me I'm getting into that rhythm where I can study and work on my game so when I am out on the field I know I am 100 per cent right."

And on his transition from rugby league?

"In rugby league in certain parts of the field on set plays I knew which man I had," he said.

"I watch more what I have been doing at training, trying to perfect things so when it comes to going overseas I have prepared myself.

"It's been a roller-coaster ride for me. I don't think I have played my best footy yet."
