The NSW Police Minister insists the state’s car hoon laws are the toughest in the country, despite not a single car being crushed since the legislation was enacted.
There's anger at the failure of the laws to deter what appears to have been a street race at Warwick Farm on Tuesday which left an
innocent bystander dead.Tony Kelly says they're actively clamping and confiscating vehicles of those involved in the illegal and dangerous activity.
“The NSW police have confiscated 366 cars this year, 67 more than last year, that’s more than one a day.
“Street racing is an act of idiots and hoons who have absolutely no place on our roads.”
Shadow Police Minister Mike Gallacher says clearly the government is all talk.
“We’ve had this legislation in place now for some time – we can all remember the events leading up to the need for this legislation to be pushed through.
“Quite simply, as soon as the lights and cameras are switched off so too does the NSW state government.”
