Eric Bana will be included within an Australian Childhood Foundation advertising campaign against child abuse.
The Australian actor will be in a radio commercial which depicts child abuse situations.
"The campaign is a great example of how important it is for everyone to have a deeper understanding of the problem of child abuse and then know what to do to prevent it," Bana said.
The Australian Childhood Foundation television commercials go to air on Sunday and use "real life" scenarios based on a violent father, a neglectful mother and a sex abuser.
Foundation chief executive Dr Joe Tucci said too many Australians wanted to think child abuse happened elsewhere, not in their own neighbourhoods or communities.
"It's time for the community to face up to the issue of child abuse and neglect and act to prevent the problem before it starts."
The foundation says more than 300,000 cases of child abuse and neglect were reported to authorities last year.
