New info on two-year-old police case

30/11/2008 9:54:00 AM.  | AAP
A woman found floating in Sydney Harbour on Christmas Day two years ago may have visited a western Sydney tattoo parlour before her death, police say.

The body of 25-year-old Katrina Ploy was discovered near Lady Bay Beach on December 25, 2006, but her whereabouts in the hours before her death have remained a mystery.

Ms Ploy was last seen alive by her parents in Seven Hills at about 5pm (AEDT) on December 17 in 2006.

Investigations have concentrated on her movements up to December 18, believed to be the day of her death.

Ms Ploy's clothing was found near The Gap in eastern Sydney on the 18th, while her car, a dark blue 1998 Hyundai Excel sedan, was also found parked nearby.

Detectives from Strike Force Beveridge, established to investigate Ms Ploy's death, say they have now received information that she may have visited a tattoo parlour somewhere along the Great Western Highway, in western Sydney, before her death.

"Detectives are renewing their appeal for information from any members of the public with information about Ms Ploy's death, in particular anyone who might have seen Ms Ploy at the tattoo parlour," a police statement said.

People with information have been urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
