Bennett preparing for life under two refs

4/12/2008 11:28:00 AM.  | Peter Cassidy
Less than one week into his new role with the Dragons, Wayne Bennett has revealed he'll be teaching his players how to adjust to life under two referees.

The former Brisbane steer has been a long term fan of the dual referee system, where a control referee will be aided by a second referee monitoring the ruck.

The system will be introduced in 2009 and Bennett is determined to ensure his players are ready.

"I've been an advocate of the two referees for over a decade," Bennett told the Illawarra Mercury.

"If you read some of the articles I wrote back a decade ago, I was talking about two referees then. I'm not opposed to that at all, very supportive of it."

As if this will do any good. They already have 2 touchies, who amazingly enough seem to never see a damn thing, unless it's on the other side of the paddock in a blind spot to them. I reckon there'll be some mighty large arguments in the REF"S sheds too. One more step closer to death for league. 100 yrs of history, for 85 of them they nver needed a "Video idiot", yet the game was the same. 15 odd yrs of video, they cant get it right. take the lawyerism out of reffing, that'd help.
