Family Guy writer wins smart arse award

The ‘frat boy’ creator of seminal American cartoons Family Guy and American Dad has been voted Entertainment Weekly’s smartest person in television.

Seth MacFarlane, who has made over a billion and a half on Family Guy DVD and merchandise sales, is the highest-paid writer in TV.

MacFarlane is currently working on a Family Guy spinoff featuring a much loved character from the show called The Cleveland Show.

Entertainment Weekly’s list of the 25 smartest people in television had 30 rock creator and Sarah Palin impersonator Tina Fey in second place.

Oprah Winfrey came in sixth.
